Off the Charts

That's how Dr. W described Anna Kate...off the charts :). She continues to be in the 97%-99% for her height, weight and head measurements! C'mon, y'all knew this baby was special, but it's nice to have a doctor re-enforce what you already know ;)! She's weighing in at 17 lbs, 10 oz and 27 inches long. Her head is 43.5 cm around. He's very pleased with her progress and that in the next few weeks we can introduce fruits and veggies (oh boy)!

The four month check up also included the dreaded shots. A total of eight vaccines in 3 shots and one oral medication. I tell you that is time was absolutely 180 degrees from our last experience. Other than her initial wail, Anna Kate did beautifully. But the time we got in the car, it was over with and she was cooing and smiling, and ready for her paci. She recovered faster from this than she did our recent car wash experience. I think a lot had to do with the nurse and how she gave the shots. The last time, the other nurse gave them to her right on top of her legs. This time, the nurse gave them to her more on the sides. Her legs don't appear to be as red and sensitive to the touch, either. Two months ago, I couldn't change the poor baby's diaper without it sounding like WWIII. Although she's a bit more irritated that her usual self, but she's happy to share a coo or smile to anybody that comes into her range of sight.

I also think alot had to do with a recent change of doctors. We initially saw Dr. E, but realized that he or his nurses were not a good fit for us. So we got some glowing referrals for Dr. W & his nurse and now VERY happy with them. His family is originally from New Orleans and they also attend our church. His oldest son is in the Boy Scout troop that Mike helps out as an adult volunteer, so it's nice to have a relationship with him outside of the doctor's office. Needless to say, we are pleased with our switch and will be sticking to this one for a while.

Glad today's appointment is over with, and 2 months before our third round of shots. She is just so much better this time--and mama didn't even cry this go around!

As far as her milestones, she's still trying to kick over to roll on her tummy. Her motions are stronger --she's almost there. She also has found her toes and loves to gnaw on them. Anna Kate enjoys kicking her up feet in the air and roll side to side with them in the air. She also has some buds appearing under the gum line. They're not quite ready to break through, but you can see something is coming up. If she doesn't have a paci in her mouth, 2 or 3 fingers probably are. She loves to gnaw on them as well.

Rice cereal is now served daily, and she will eat it from the spoon. Hmm, correction, her bib seems to wear more of it that she eats :). It's really cute when she does eat the cereal, giving some insight to how she will wear her vegetables.
